Whether you’re a blogger, a business professional, a student, or a Facebook enthusiast, you should be using Grammarly. It works anywhere on the web, right from your browser. Just sign-up and install the browser extension, and it will alert you to any grammatical errors as you type. Best of all, you can use it for free!

I know the difference between your/you’re, two/to/too, and they’re/their/there, but I’ve gotten a little rusty with more complex grammar over the years. Within minutes of registering, Grammarly caught an unnecessary comma in a compound predicate in a new blog post. It even provided an explanation so I could learn for future reference. Apparently, it was a recurring error for me!

Why You Need Grammarly - A Wandering Vine

Grammarly is key if you’re a blogger, particularly if a professional editor isn’t in your budget. Most readers won’t take you seriously or stick around if your posts have glaring errors.

Business professionals will appreciate it for emails, business documents, and more. Have you ever cringed after re-reading an email you already sent?

Students will especially benefit from the plagiarism detection in the premium version.

If none of those apply to you, then you’ll at least benefit by avoiding grammatical errors in Facebook posts and Craigslist ads. Whether you can’t keep sale and sell straight, or you confuse your and you’re, you will no longer worry that people are silently correcting your grammar.

I highly recommend signing up for at least the free version. You can’t lose!
– 100 points of grammar

I installed the free browser extension a little while ago and I find it’s always catching me with the unnecessary commas! I’m getting better at self-correcting as I write because Grammarly has been kicking my butt about it. I also find it easier to correct typos and spelling mistakes with Grammarly than with the spellcheck feature on my browser.

Grammarly is an amazing program and I can’t imagine life without it! It’s a great way to practice your writing too, even if your first language is English there will always be errors and Grammarly will be of good use!

Looks like a great service. I used to teach English, and it is true that programs like Word etc don’t always catch all of the errors people make.

I have got to get this for my computer! I usually end up going to my mom for grammar questions. The biggest problem I have is phrasing, and things like adverbs, and “to” and “for”.
