Reading is such a wonderful way to spend quality time with kids. I love the snuggles when they sit on my lap to read a book (or a stack of books). They love the one-on-one (or two-on-one) time, and hearing stories (over and over again).

Plus, it’s great for the kids when you read to them. They learn language patterns, new words, storytelling, etc. When they ask you to read the same book over and over, it’s because they like the predictability and it helps them learn. I often find my kids “reading” to themselves!

We are currently loving Go, Dog Go! My son is getting excited that he can read some of it on his own. We also love Dr. Seuss!

I used to read to my kids every night. I’d get bored with the kid stuff so I’d read them some fairly advanced books sometimes and they loved it. Now they are adults and still tell me about the books they remember me reading to them.

That’s awesome! I hope my kids do the same. We also enjoy reading books beyond their age level.
